๐ค๐ต๐ย Starting in the 2000s, there has been an eruption of new music genres originating from Egypt’s own capital and megacity, Cairo. This includes the Cairene electronic hip-hop music style which originated from the streets of city and its towns. Those songs are performed in the local Cairene language (Egyptian Arabic) of the city. An example of performers of such music is the duet Oka Wi Ortega. This music quickly became popular among the teenagers of course and finds many listeners among them. Although this type of music is not mainstream, and might be not very acceptable for many, it is still popular among some not-so-negligible portion of the population! ๐ ย Here is a musical sample by Oka Wi Ortega …ย ๐
Track 1 – Sorry
Track 2 – Good Boy (Good Girl)
Track 3 – Galleria 40 Concert (live performance with audience in Cairo)
