βοΈππΈπͺπ¬Β A trip to astonishing Luxor on the river Nile is always full of adventures, good memories, and unforgettable sights from the Pharaohs. See why for yourself in the video below … πΒ π
ππΊοΈπΌοΈΒ Luxor is a peaceful city in the south of Egypt which dates back to really ancient times … like millennia in the past. It used to be Egypt’s capital city thousands of years ago before Cairo got to be the capital. The city promises to provide unforgettable experiences with all its glamorous ancient ruins from the Pharaohs’ times, the beautiful river banks along the Nile, and the city’s very friendly culture which is always welcoming to all visitors (don’t feel shy to have a cup of tea with the simple and modest locals at their homes here, they are more than welcoming to do so with all tourists!) π
What to visit?
1. The Karnak temple

πΈΒ The majestic masterpiece of Luxor, on the East bank of the Nile of course (all temples of the Pharaohs are on the East side because this is where the sun rises and this is where they live their life). See this beautiful temple with all the stories of the Pharaohs and how they lived their lives thousands of years ago. Make sure to also visit at night too, to see the illuminated pillars and statues with all their glamour. There is a sound and light show also at night, which is an audio-video guide as you wander across the temple.
2. Hatshepsut’s temple

πΒ Want to know how Egypt’s powerful woman Pharaoh ruled Egypt thousands of years ago? Then, this is the right place! A very famous and majestic temple which documents on its walls how Hatshepsut ruled Egypt and all the Egyptian discoveries in the ancient land of Punt. Amazing place to discover why the Pharaohs are incredible!
3.Β Luxor’s Kings and Queens valleys

πΒ Brave enough to go inside the tombs of the Pharaohs … then embark on your adventures right here at the valley of the kings and queens (on the west bank because ancient Egyptians believed that the right place for the dead was at the place of sunset!) Go under land and see the fascinating tombs of Egypt’s most powerful Pharaohs with all their beautiful decorations, astonishing gems and spooky sights. Get to see the mummies rest alongside their huge collections of treasure!
4. Luxor’s museum

πΌοΈΒ A great collection of ancient Egyptian ruins, statues, tools and mummies which document Egypt’s incredible history. The right place to learn everything about the Pharaohs. Make sure to hire a good tour guide who speaks your language here!
5.Β A ride on a boat in the Nile during sunset

β΅Β This will be the most peaceful, enticing and unforgettable moment in the trip … a nice trip cruising in the river Nile during sunset. You will definitely enjoy the breeze of air softly hitting your face while inhaling the beautiful scents of nature. Tip: a very romantic activity for couples!
6.Β A trip to the Red Sea by bus
ποΈΒ Have the extra time and luxury to dip in the sea at Egypt’s beautiful Red Sea Riviera … then go for a short hop to the cities of Hurghada or El Gouna from Luxor … absolutely recommended! With justΒ Β a short 3 hours hop to Hurghada and all its beautiful beach resorts or to El-Gouna (a beautiful paradise by the beach) you can easily enjoy the nice weather at Egypt’s most elegant beaches.
How to travel to Luxor

βοΈπ₯οΈπ³οΈΒ The easiest and simplest way (but most expensive) is to travel by air … just take an EgyptAir express flight from Cairo, Alexandria or Sharm El-Sheikh or a charter flight with your tour operator to Luxor’s international airport. Alternatively, you can reach Luxor by the following methods:
- Using a Nile cruise: a cruise ship with hotel rooms, catering and activities for all the families. Have to book this in advance with your tour operator.
- Using Bus: will be a quite long and not very comfortable ride, but much cheaper. A shuttle bus with your tour operator can be more comfortable to use.
- Using the train: like the bus, cheaper but not the most elegant, quickest or most comfortable method to go to Luxor.
Best time to visit
β Β Definitely during the WinterΒ (extended period between November – April) as the weather becomes really warm here during the summer!
Where to stay
ποΈΒ Luxor hosts a lot of world-class five-stars and four-stars hotels which are incredibly cheap with excellent service! Definitely book in one of those hotels or stay on the Nile cruise ship for your stay!
