Egypt’s minister of foreign affairs flew to Washington to discuss the issues of global security, counter-terrorism, economic development and peace in the middle eastย with the current US government and the future government of the new president-elect.
The visit to the US will also include a meeting with the UN’s new secretary general in order to discuss some global coordination efforts for peace and development. The new secretary general from Portugal Antonio Guterres (starting his term in January 2017) was strongly backed by the Egyptian officials as a strong leader for the UN to lead the global scene.
